Hi,
In the process of refreshing my PL200 knowledge I've started experimenting with low-code plug-ins.
The PL200 learning module here is very informative however, it omits a key step which is how to actually connect an app to a low-code plugin. A Google search on how to add plug-ins finds this other Microsoft learn resource here which fills in the missing pieces.
I've included the links for others who may find this post, so they can get the end-to-end instructions. For completeness, this link explains how to install Dataverse Accelerator if like us your environments were created prior to October 2023.
My first question is...
Are low-code plugins Production or Preview?
The PL200 training module makes no mention of being preview but the second link, 23 Jan 2024 (to understand how to add them to apps), states low-code plug-ins is a preview and not meant for production use. Is this a case of the documentation being behind the release cycle or is low-code plug-ins still in preview. If it is still preview do we have a date for the general availability release - this is a game-changer and brings reusable code within easy reach.
My other questions relate to the documentation and moving solutions to other environments.
In the PL200 module on creating automated plug-ins point 5 says to select Created and Updated however, the options a radio buttons and you can only select one option.
When moving a solution from the dev environment to test it installs Dataverse Accelerator, if not already installed. However, the first attempt with managed solution assigned assigned the plug-ins to the wrong solution (not the one being imported) and also lost the input and output parameters. You can't reassign a plug-in to a different solution once created and you can't add a new plug-in to a managed solution (so I couldn't make a new one).
After deleting the managed solution and uploading an unmanaged solution the plug-in was correctly assigned to the solution but it still had lost the input and output parameters. This time I was able to edit the plug-in and add them back and the app worked correctly.
Are the problems with the solution imports due to still being in preview or are this know bugs with workarounds?
Thanks in advance.
Next step, is to see if they work in PowerApps for Teams, you can't add Dataverse Accelerator to P4T but it will be interesting to see if you can add it using a solution import.
