Orphan Tasks

Can anyone tell me why I am getting orphaned tasks, ?  I would have thought all tasks would by default be linked to the initial node.  In the picture below, the structure on the left is 'orphaned' but the structure on the right links to the initial node (out of shot).

    Sorry...I have solved this myself...wasn't showing all nodes/edges.  Apologies for the waste of time!
