Send an Email v2 not sending emails

I have a recurring flow that runs every day that checks a sharepoint list to see if there are any entries for dates 10 days in the future.  If there are it is supposed to trigger an email to be sent using Send Email v2.  When I test the flow, it says it is working, but no emails are being sent.  I currently have it set up to send to my email address while I'm testing it.  I've been through every post I can find to figure out why it's not working, and have had no luck.  I have an identical flow that was set up a year ago (looks at a different sharepoint list) and it sends emails just fine.  Please help!

The flow:

    Hi @csnow

This happens because there are no records having date 10 days in advance which cause get item output as empty so no emails are sent out- could you confirm whether there is any record in list whose date is 10 days after current date ?

    Thanks & Regards,

Thank you.  I did verify that there is a record with a StartDate 10 days in advance.  I even tried creating records that were 9 days in advance and 11 days in advance.  Still no joy.

Also, when I look at the details of the test run, in the Outputs for the Get Items, all that is coming up is:

@csnow Your Get Items action isn't returning any Items. This means that your there aren't any SP List items with a StartDate eq to '2024-06-09'. If you have items in your SP list with a StartDate eq to '2024-06-09' then you may need to toggle on pagination and set a threshold if there are more than 100 items in your SP List.

The Get Items action returns 100 items per call by default, if you want more items returned per call you'll need to toggle on pagination and set a threshold. The threshold max is 5000.

I would recommend adding a Compose action after the Get Items action to output the total number of items returned from the Get Items action. I cover how to do this in this section of my YT Tutorial: 5 Power Automate Troubleshooting FAQs and Helpful Tips for Creating Better Flows

In this Power Automate tutorial, I explore 5 frequently asked questions that pop up when troubleshooting a flow. If you’d like to to level up your Power Automate flow skills and learn how to troubleshoot your Power Automate flow—this tutorial is for you!

Thank you for the suggestions!  I tried exactly what you stated and the suggestions in your tutorial, it is still returning 0 outputs.

@csnow Can you share a screenshot of the items in your SharePoint list that you are trying to filter?

Also, can you confirm the type of column you are using for the StartDate column?

  • csnow Profile Picture

There are a total of 42 columns in the sharepoint list, every column is a text field except for the StartDate.  The StartDate column is formatted as  Date & Time

@csnow The reason your filter query isn't returning any results is because your column includes a time as well. This means that your StartDate column values will never be equal to just a date. You must provide a datetime range where your StartDate column value falls between.

Unbelievable!  Every tutorial I have watched, every thread I have read said to have the field formatted as Date and Time.

Changing it back to just the Date worked!

    THANK YOU

@csnow If you need your column to include a time you can set it to a date/time column. However, when your column includes a time, you must use the proper conditions in your filter query to account for the time. The eq operator will always expect an EXACT MATCH. In your case, you will never have an exact match because you aren't including a time.
