Users fail to connect to SharePoint while using my Power App

Hello everyone,

I'm currently working on a Power App that uses SharePoint lists to work, Power Automate flows doing the work.
The app seems to be working for people on the tenant it's stored, but the SharePoint connexion is failing for extern users.

For them, there's an issue in creating a connexion to SharePoint, as you can see on the attached pictures. The connexion to Office 365 and to Outlook are working.

We found out that if the user connects to the SharePoint site (which is set up to be public, and opened to extern users) before using the app, the connexion problem is fixed. This is not an optimal situation for us and we'd prefer to fix the problem, so the user won't have to go on the SharePoint site at all before using the App. I have seen several threads about similar problems but there was no solution to be found. Do you have any idea how to fix this issue ?

    Hi @YacineB ,

That is correct unfortunately (the SharePoint connection needs to be authenticated with [I suspect] their O365 licence, but they can remain logged into the site on their PC and the app will work fine until they log out. I have the same issue with an external app I run.

Hello @WarrenBelz, yes my external users are using an O365 E3 licence.

You mean that it cannot be fixed that my external users will be forced to log on the SharePoint site before they can use the app ?

    Hi @YacineB ,

I have to do it every time I log into the external Power App. I am generally logged into my main domain and the SharePoint connection is therefore "pointing" at the wrong place. As you can only have one SharePoint connection active in a browser, this has to be replaced and re-authenticated in the other domain. As I mentioned, you can stay logged in if this is the only app you are accessing.
