Approval dashboard cross environments

Hello all,

I am looking if there is some option to have cross enviroments dashboard for approvals? As we are using multi enviroment to better handle separate countries it will be nice to have for end user one place where they can go to handle approvals.

For example SharePoint build-in approvals are in default enviroment by default. But custom developed approvals is possible to move in different enviroment and this can make mess.

Somebody have some answer how to solve this for approvals?

Thank you

P.

What do you mean by cross-envrionment? Do you mean across different tenants, different regions, different site collections? Also, do you mean SharePoint Approval Workflows or Microsoft Flow Approvals? Please provide as much detailed information as possible so that we may better assist you.

    Hi @vecerpa ,

I am afraid that there is no way to achieve your needs in Microsoft Flow currently.

The environments are an isolation boundary means that you can never have resources that reference resources across environments. For example, you may not create a custom connector in one environment and then create a flow that uses that custom connector in a different environment.

Please take a reference of 'Using environments within Microsoft Flow' :

    Hi @v-zhos-msft ,

This is not good for end users.

Enviroments should be used to split mess that can be done by solution development in enterprise level. So as some build in Flows for example for SharePoint are by default in default enviroment approvals are visible only here. But if you have some LOB app and you need to use approvals you have them in separate enviroment. You have to switch between enviroments (in mobile app the behaviour is same) to be able to approve items.

That is not good and there should be one approval dashboard for tenant for all enviroments within this tenant. So user is able to manage it from one space.

I beleive that this shoudl be changed and improved.

Hello @vecerpa , I was able to create custom connectors in a single environment for each environment I want to manage.

First I tried using the same custom connector to get and set approvals in 2 different environments (in my canvas app I fed it a different environment GUID to flip between the two). That resulted in my token getting revoked. When I create a separate custom connector for each environment though, everything is ok. In my app I simply switch between connectors depending on where the approvals are coming from. I followed this old post for creating the custom connectors: Building an Approval experience in Canvas Apps . I hope this helps.
