How to get data from a read only power bi report

ReportReport

Hey,

I am trying to create a flow where I export data from a tile in a report to an Excel file. I find the actions where I can export the dashboard to a SharePoint location but I want to export just the data from a specific tile in a report where I have read-only access. I'm new to power apps so please go easy on me 🙂

where I export data from a tile in a report to an Excel file.

Reports don't have tiles. They have visuals.

the actions where I can export the dashboard to a SharePoint location

Please elaborate. I am not familiar with that feature.

in a report where I have read-only access

Power BI reports are (sadly) by design read-only.

Assuming you mean a report visual - click on the visual's ellipsis (...) in the top right corner of the visual. Select Export. Summarized Data... Excel with live connection.   That will give you the DAX query that was run to populate the visual.

This is what I see when I export summarised data, I do not see the option "Excel with live connection"

Interesting.  Usually that setting is enabled by default.  Are you on a Gov cloud?  Or maybe your Power BI Tenant admin has modified that setting?

Not so sure, I am new to the Microsoft cloud suite

So is there any other way to automate it in power BI?

You can automate this but you don't need Power BI for it.  You can run the same DAX queries from Power Automate or from other, more capable automation tools.
