Downloading a flow-created file from Sharepoint

Hello,

I created a flow which takes information from a form and populates a word template to store in a Sharepoint folder (as a word document).

When I download that created file from Sharepoint, it loses the data and only the template is returned. Can anyone tell me why this is so? Can anything be done to prevent the data loss?

Would appreciate any suggestions.

Thank you.

Hey - Which CDS trigger should be selected to ensure that the flow runs automatically? At the moment, the trigger is <When a record is selected>. I do not see an option of a trigger <When a record is updated>. Which trigger should be set up to ensure auto-running of the flow.

Also, the problem of data loss when a document is downloaded still persists, how can I overcome that.

    I would appreciate the help.

    Thank you.

    This is the word action

My initial trigger is 'When a record is selected'.
I think it should have been 'When a record is updated' and then the condition which needs to hold true. This was my first time working with CDS - and the 'record selection' trigger came by default when I navigated to flow from my Dynamics screen.

your flow logic seems fine. Can you please share the screenshot of the populate a word template action?

What trigger you are using? Your flow will run in few minutes of that trigger if its an automated trigger based on number of api and throttle limits.

Can you also tell me how to automate the running of the flow?

Even though I have a condition in place, so I mark that as true - then still run the flow from the flow dropdown. What can I do to ensure that it runs as soon as the condition is set to true.

    Thank you.

I edited the flow to create a folder, and a subfolder, and then the word document inside sharepoint. The behavior is still the same - when the created file is downloaded from Sharepoint, the document loses data and I can only see the template.

First picture has the first three steps of the flow.

Then I have a condition that a particular field on form should be set to Yes for the flow to run. These are the following steps.

This is the screenshot of the word template.

Please tell me what I am doing wrong here.

Would appreciate the help. Thank you.

This is not the expected behavior.

The new file you created would retain the data you populated in it using the flow.

Would you mind sharing your flow screenshots and your template screenshot in design mode?
