Unable to click on a web element

Hi all,

I am fairly new to PAD but has been doing some work for the past few weeks. I came across an issue where I cannot click on a web element to open up a window. The 'Click link on web page' action highlights it but doesnt appear to 'click' on it. When I try to use the web recorder, the clicking on the element doesnt get recorded.

I have attached a screenshot to help identify the issue.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    @Chama  Have you tried using another browser to record the actions?

    Can you share the details that are captured by the UI Element for the "Workflow ID" element?

    Thanks

    Hi @csundar,

    Yes I did try IE (my default is Chrome), but it doesnt recognise the click on this element either,

    Below is the selector details captured by 'Add UI element'.

    th[Class="col1"] > div[Id="SortableTextHeader__Workflow_ID"] > div[Class="stb-SortableTextHeader-Label"]

    Thanks

    @Chama

    Two things to try that I've used before:

    1 - Try to remove the last div section (div[Class="stb-SortableTextHeader-Label"]) from the element

    2 - Capture the UI element for the the field you want that is contained within the Workflow ID element.  Ex:  Capture the element for the text box to the right of the contains dropdown.  If that is already loaded in the HTML, then you may be able to click the field you want without first selecting Workflow ID.

    If those don't work, can you provide any additional information about the webform (software product, etc.)?

    Thanks

    Hi @Chama ,

    1.Use "Get details of element on web page" action

    2. Expand Advance and change own text to Href

    3. Then use "Go to web page" action

    4. Use the variable produced by top action

    Please check the screenshot below.

    Hope this helps 🙂

    Hi All,

    Tried all the suggested solution above and none worked. Had a call with MS consultant and apparently, the web page is developed with some features disabled. Hence the reason PAD cannot click on the element. The workaround was to use "move mouse to image" which did work. But I do not want to use it as it then does not allow me to run the flow in the background (as it wont be able to find the image).

    To get what I want to do, I will extract the whole data table and try and click on the entry (I was trying to use the filter so that I get only one entry to click on).

    Many thanks for your contribution @Anonymous  and @csundar !

    BTW, you can also inject Javascript to the webpage and get the result.
