Compare data in Excel

Hi,

I have a file in Excel with about 300 employees that contains Position ID, Name, Role and location that is refreshed daily. The master information is on Dynamics 365. Is it possible with Flow to identify what changed if someone makes a change in Dynamics (Name or Role) for a giving Position Id. The comparission would be based on the Position Id. Ideally once the comparission is done, I'll get an email with the old and the new value. I can use the "When a Record is created or updated" in Dynamics to get the change but then I don't know how to compare the record with the one in Excel. Any idea?

Thanks!

Yes, this is possible but it is not recommended to use Excel due to it's severe issues and limitations, mainly file lockouts of 6-12 minutes or more. I'd strongly recommend utilizing a SharePoint List instead, if possible. If you need the output to be an Excel file, you could add a step to the Flow that generates an Excel file after the SharePoint list has been updated with the changes from Dynamics.

The basic architecture of the Flow would be utilizing a condition to your Flow, that is triggered when a Dynamics record is updated. Example of the basic logic (not actual logic): If the column Status is = to True, then update the Spreadsheet to reflect the change.

Here's documentation and links directly related to those actions:

Thanks for the answer. How could I do the comparission between the original file (in Sharepoint or Excel) to the updated record in Dynamics using this unique file that identifies the record?
