Hi all,

Sorry if this is repeated, I had issues logging my issue earlier and can't see if it posted or not.

I need some assistance with creating a flow. I have 2 Lists. When a new item is created in List A , I want to create a new record in List B for each of the customers ( Unique ) using the information from List A .. but then add the customer Name retrieved from List B.
See below example.
List A
Job1 £10
Job2 £20
Job3 £30
List B
Customer A - Job1 - £10
Customer A - Job2 - £20
Customer A - Job3 - £30
Customer B - Job1 - £10
Customer B - Job2 - £20
Customer B - Job3 - £30

New item created in List A
Job1 £10
Job2 £20
Job3 £30
Job4 £40 - NEW ITEM CREATED

List B
Get all list of all unique customers and create new record for each of them using details from List A and Customer Name from List B
List B
Customer A - Job1 - £10
Customer A - Job2 - £20
Customer A - Job3 - £30
Customer A - Job4 - £40 - Create new Item
Customer B - Job1 - £10
Customer B - Job2 - £20
Customer B - Job3 - £30
Customer B - Job4 - £40 - Create new Item

The reason for the two lists is that the jobs are standard and available to all customers but they sometimes have their own agreed rates so I want the flexibility that if we have a new service ( job ) we can create in the master , which then goes ahead and creates in the second list for each of the customers. We can then adjust rates per customer as required.. just want to avoid having to create the job manually for each customer in list B.
I have had varied success, its the creation where I keep failing.

If I were building this, I would approach it a bit differently. First, I would create a list that contains just the customer details and make one field unique so the same customer cannot be added twice (maybe the customer's name in the Title field). Then in your "jobs" list, add the customer as a look up to the customer list. This way, if the customer doesn't exist, the person will first need to add them to the customer list.

And it will make it easier for people to submit new jobs since they can choose the customer from a drop-down. Granted, there will be some limitations if your customer list will exceed 5,000 items and you are using just out-of-the box SharePoint. It will also establish the relationship between the two lists when someone submits an item so when you change rates it is effective immediately with any new item added.

    Hi @

well we can build a solution for this, but the confusion i have is let's say assuminhg List B is empty - how can things be handled if an item is added in job list? It would be better if we can keep a seperate list for customer by using that we can create job details per customer in List B.
Also not sure whether we need to handle a scenario where new customer is added and in that case do we need to create entries for that customer for all job items present in list a ?

@David_MA   i have went through your reply and it seems like you are trying to use a lookup - did not understand how it helps when job is created- would it be kind of manual work there?

    Hi @nived_namviar

The customer list ( List B ) will always have customers on this list and will be pre loaded with customers ( at the moment 20 or so).

The 2 lists are linked to a powerapp, along with a third list of total customer list with 900 + customers on it. On this customer list there is a category that directs the powerapp to either look at List A ( which is standard costs ) and List B which is specific customers with their own mixture of agreed costs.

I have a flow that when a new customer is created within the app, flow will take the customer name and retireve all the jobs listed in List A and then create the new customer specifaclly in List B. From here our team can then edit the jobs costs individually from the power app.

So the only issue i have is when a new type of job gets created in List A, i need to create it for each of the customers that already exisit in list b.

Thanks for your response, see the detailed flow for this scenario

    1. Assume this is job list (List A)

    Assume this is List B

    Flow design

    1.  Trigger the flow when item is added in tasks list (Job list)

    2. Get items from workload list (customer list)

Note - Enable pagination in get items if unique customer count is more as get items by default take 100 items by default..

    3. Capture the customer names to an array using select action

    4. Now use apply to each by looping through distinct list of customer names as shown below

      1. Under the loop, use create item to create the job details for the customer details present as shown below in customer list (workload list)

    5. Now if you see a job item created like below

It will create as much items in customer list for the job item.

    Hope it helps !
