Save and refresh Excel sheet in MS teams every week

I want to be able to automate a weekly refresh of an excel sheet. The excel sheet resides online (OneDrive) and is being edited by users through MS Teams.

Can I set up a flow that will save the "old" excel document into a folder and replace it with a new template every Sunday at 11:59pm?

    Yes,

    You can use a recurrence trigger that runs every Sunday at a defined time.

    Create a template file and save it in a Templates library/folder

    Use the Move file action to move the current File to an Archive location

    Use the Copy file action to create another instance of the Template in your Onedrive location.

    Thanks for your reply

    I am new to the use of Power Automate, I am not sure what tools to use

    Here is the flow I want to create:

    • Recurrence every Sunday at 11:59pm
      • (I managed to set up this part of the flow)
    • Move .xlsx file from TEAMS channel to OneDrive archive folder
      • (do I need to add unique identifiers to the .xlsx files? I cant seem to find the files in the dropdown)
    • Rename this file to add date the date when file was moved (like: 22.06.25 filename)
      • (does this step go before or after the move action?)
    • Copy .xlsx template file from OneDrive into TEAMS Channel

    END

    What specific tools is suggested I use? The OneDrive for Business  or SharePoint options?

    Thanks for the help :))

    @SoupySoup ,

    Before I can provide a sample, a few questions:

    Do users collaborate on the version that's on Onedrive or Teams? I suggest Teams is a better option.

    Will the document be archived in Onedrive or SharePoint? Either is fine.

    Users will collaborate on the versions on Teams,

    The archived documents will be on OneDrive

    Currently, the template files also reside on OneDrive

    Thanks for your quick response

    @SoupySoup ,

    After your recurrence trigger, add the following actions. See my Onedrive setup.

    Thanks heaps for that! I have now made it work 🙂

    Would you be able to walk me through how to rename the old copies with a date. So that the file that has been moved to archive gets renamed with the date of which it was moved. For example: filename27.11.22.xlsx

    Thanks!
