Hi everyone,

I started using power automate a few weeks ago as an intern. My tutor gave me a task to try and duplicate an existing sharepoint page, rename it to the name the user has given from an element they've created and also change the title to that name. My idea was to copy-paste an existing sharepoint page by going to the content of a site to duplicate and rename it, but i cant rename files using power automate. So i did some googling and apparantly i have to create a new file and put the content of the file i want to copy to the new file, i tried it and i found that i cant create a file with an aspx entension inside the site page folder. I tried creating an aspx file outside of the site page folder (somewhere else), then added the content to that new file and copy-pasted that file to the site page folder. It worked but i couldnt open the file, it wouldn't open as a page it would just download it. I tried creating a subsite using the http action "thing" (i forgot what it's called). It didn't work and i dont know how to copy the content of a subsite to another subsite (i might have screwed up the flow to create the subsite but i do not know). Does anyone have an idea ?

Sorry if the actions are in french 😕

    Hi @Githendra23 ,

    You can rename the file using a Send an HTTP request to SharePoint if you know the file ID:

    _api/web/lists/GetbyTitle('Site Pages')/items(9)/validateUpdateListItem

    {
     "formValues": [
     {
     "FieldName": "FileLeafRef",
     "FieldValue": "TEST123ABC.aspx"
     }
     ]
    }

    Hope this helps.

    Sorry to revive this older thread, but I have searched everywhere for an answer to my question without any success. I have a SharePoint site to which I have applied the standard SharePoint template, IT Help Desk..  This template switches the default home page to a newly created Page with a filename of "IThelpdeskhome.aspx".  Despite the URL I selected stil working perfectly, it redirects to this page, and so the address bar displays the filename "IThelpdesk.aspx" which isn't suitable for the purpose of the site as I am using it.  If I use your method to change the filename of the Page to something more suitable, will it break the site's functionality? Is there a way to rename the Page without screwing up the site? I appreciate the help!

    Hi @poa ,

    May be you can just rename the page from the Site Settings menu within SharePoint?

    Select Site contents:

    Select Site pages:

    Then select the page you want to rename or set a different page as the Home Page:
