Response Component Not Triggering in Sandbox Environment

I’ve developed a Model-Driven App with a Copilot response component that functions correctly in my development environment. After exporting the solution as managed and importing it into a newly created sandbox environment, the response agent fails to trigger. Instead, I receive the following recurring error across multiple sections of the app

Steps Taken:

  • Verified that Copilot features and AI Builder are enabled in the sandbox.

  • Ensured the solution was imported with all required components.

  • Confirmed that the response component is present and visible in the app.

  • Checked that the Copilot is active/Published and configured similarly to the dev environment.

  •

Please do let me know if there is anything I can do to solve this issue

    Hi,

Based on the error message, I would focus less on whether Copilot is simply enabled in the sandbox and more on whether the Copilot event referenced by the Model-Driven App is correctly available and mapped in the target environment.

Since this works in Dev but fails after a managed-solution deployment, I would check the following:
    • Open the Copilot Studio agent in the sandbox and confirm that the event/topic used by the response component exists there with the exact same event name.
    • Re-publish the agent in the sandbox after the solution import.
    • Open the Model-Driven App in the sandbox designer and verify that the Copilot response component is referencing the correct agent and event in that environment, rather than retaining a Dev reference.
    • Check whether any connection references or environment variables used by the agent need target-environment values.
    • Publish the Model-Driven App again after validating the agent configuration.
    • Test the event directly against the sandbox agent to determine whether the issue is with the agent/event itself or only with the Model-Driven App integration.

The message “Please verify the event exists on the Copilot you are using in this App” is an important clue. It suggests that the component is loading, but it cannot resolve the expected event against the Copilot configured for that app.

I would especially compare the event configuration and agent association between Dev and Sandbox rather than only comparing whether the agent is active/published.

    Hope this helps.

Hello @Muzammil Nawaz -  In your sandbox, can you open the associated agent and verify that the respective topic uses "A custom client event occurs" / "Event received" as its trigger, and that the event name exactly matches the event name configured in the Agent Response component?

The other thing to verify is whether the model-driven app in the target environment is associated with the correct imported agent.

After validating these settings, publish both the agent and the model-driven app, then try deploying again.
