Approval flow with copying range in mail body from excel file attached

Hello everyone!

I am stuck with building an approval flow and would be very greatful if somebody give me a hint. The biggest problem comes with inserting a specific range from attached file to e-mail body.

The flow is supposed to look like this:

1. Start Flow manually using a button in outlook or sharepoint site

2. Trigger - Excel file uploaded to sharepoint library

3. Excel File should be attached to email

4. Range "A1 : D17" from sheet "Sales" of each attached file should be copied as table or printscreen in email body

5. Parallel approval to 2 recepients

6. If both recepients approve, then file attachment is saved in sharepoint library "Approved"

7. If at least one receipent rejects, then e-mail with comments is sent to Initiator.

Thank you in advance!

Best regards,

  Kateryna

    Hi @ agentthumb,

Could you please explain more about the “manually using a button in outlook or sharepoint site” that you mentioned? There is no button in outlook or sharepoint site.

Could you please share more details about the excel that would be uploaded to the sharepoint library?

Do you want to send an email to someone ,and use the excel as attachment of the email, copy the Range "A1 : D17" from sheet "Sales" of the excel in the body of the email?

If you want to get the Range "A1 : D17" from sheet "Sales" of the excel that uploaded to the sharepoint library when the flow runs, I’m afraid that your needs couldn’t be achieved, because Microsoft flow could only support to get the row of already exists excel in library before the flow runs currently, you couldn’t get the row of new created excel currently.

For the step3 that you mentioned, you could add a “Get file content” action under the trigger, then add a “Send an email” action, fill the Attachment Name and Attachment Content in the action.

For the step6 that you mentioned, you could add a “Start an approval” action, and choose the “Anyone from the assigned list” in the “Approval type” field.

Then add a condition to check if the response is equal to “Approve”,

If yes, copy the attachment to your sharepoint library "Approved".( step6)

If no, send the email to Initiator.( step7)

    Regards,
    Alice Zhang
