App insights connection string

Posted on by 152

Hi,

I have a bot set up to send telemetry to app insights in Azure. When deploying a bot to another environment through Pipelines, the app insights connection string is not retained in the target environment. Is this by design? Since the bot solution is managed in the target environment, adding the connection string manually will prevent future publisher updates.

I tested by saving the connection string on a managed bot and seems like it didn't break anything. Subsequent deployments worked as usual

    Hi @inzil2k,

As far as I can tell, the Application Insights in the unified authoring version of PVA is not solution-aware.

I.e. it should not impact the bot managed properties and the configuration doesn't deploy as part of solution.

In the previous 'classic' version of PVA, the PVA instrumentation key was stored as an environment variable.

Let me check if we have plans for something similar.

    Henry
