I just installed Power Automate Desktop and trying to use it for the first time. When I go to create a new flow OR if I go to try and see one of the examples the following error shows up in a pop-up that I cannot close out of unless I close the entire application:

Message = Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
Error = System.NullReferenceException
Full text = System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Any thoughts on what I need to do to resolve this error?

    I have the same problem, I just updated from version 2.39 to version 2.40 and I get the same message

    Hi,

    A few days ago I had a problem with version 2.40. My solution was to roll back the installation and install version 2.39. I know it's not the best solution but I didn't find any answer to my problem. My advice is that you try the previous version and wait for them to release another version where perhaps this will already be solved.

    Refer this thread, it works for me:

    https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/Power-Automate-Desktop/Erro-System-NullReferenceException/m-p/2599399#M36696

    If in case someone still encountered this.

    The following thread will contain all versions of PAD starting at 2.40. It's a bit of a shame we didn't think of this earlier, but at least if anyone wants to roll back in the future, you can find it here: https://github.com/jfevia/Power-Automate-Desktop/releases
