Add a Dynamic Key Column to an Excel Table and then Update it

Hello, I want to add a column to a table with a dynamic name and then update a row including the value in the newly added column. Obviously the new column (IssueDateClean) is not listed as an option in the Update a row action because it was created in the previous step and will change for every flow run, is there any workaround for this? Thank you.

Do you want to add a column in Excel and update all the data in this column to a certain data?

You need two flows to do this, please try this:
The first flow for adding a new column:
The second flow for updating rows:

Hello, thank you that would work for a static column name but the new column name is actually dynamic, it is driven by a variable. Any ideas?

Hi @NGatensby ,

If you get different column names in the Apply_to_each, you just need to put Add a Key Column under this loop and reference this variable when entering the column name.

The Flow is triggered when a file is added to a specific SharePoint folder, the new column name is driven by a variable called IssueDateClean which is a formatted date based on the Created attribute from the file which has been uploaded.

Hi @NGatensby ,

If you want to create a new column in the table and update the column contents, you need to create two flows to complete each of these operations. If you want to update a column, the column must first exist, otherwise you will not get the column to be updated in the next action Update a row.
