Creating a Power App from two SP lists

Hi,

This hopefully is a fairly basic problem but I am very new to Power Apps...

I am trying to create a 'Request of Training' (RoT) Power App from two SP lists. The user will enter their name, level and then select from a dropdown list which training they are requesting which will refer to a list I have already created of all the training options in SP. I then want the submitted form to populate my RoT SP list and the choice also to be shown in the detail screen of the PA.

I have tried adding a column to the RoT SP list which looks up the training options in the separate training options list and creating a PA from there, however, when I press 'Create Power App', this column disappears? Any suggestions as to how to connect a lookup dropdown to the RoT SP list would be greatly appreciated!

I am assuming here this is a SharePoint Integrated App?

You simply need to add the other list as a data source after SharePoint / Power Apps has created the screen and form for you.

Hi @WarrenBelz , thanks for the response. Yes, I have tried that and created an app which will do as I want it to but it won't then populate the training option in my SharePoint list but will populate the user etc.?
Below is what it looks like if that helps?

Hi @alicew07 ,

You need to change the Update of the Data Card it is in.

If you are writing back to a Text field the Update will be

Training.Selected.Title

If a Choice field, it will be

{Value:Training.Selected.Title}

Is this what you meant? The error says 'Expected text value'.
I think my main problem is that the power app doesn't recognise the 'Request of Training' column in my SP list as it's a lookup column if that makes sense? So, I was wondering if initially creating the power app from the list, I needed a different column type to be able to create the lookup drop down for 'Request of Training' in the app? I hope this makes sense!

I was fearing you were going to say that. Try

{ Value:Training.Selected.Title, Id:Training.Selected.ID }

This will only work if you have based your training drop-down on the full data set of the other list being "looked-up".
