Power Automate Fails with 403 (Missing connection ACL) even though connection is Connected

Hi everyone,

I’m facing an issue with Power Automate when using the Word Online (Business) connector, specifically the “Populate a Microsoft Word template” action.

When configuring the Location field, Power Automate throws this error:

I have checked that:

  • The Word Online (Business) connection status shows Connected

  • I can access and open the Word template directly in Word Online

  • I have edit permissions on the file

  • The file is a valid .docx template with content controls

  • The connector owner is my own account

  • The flow runs under the same user account

Any guidance or official explanation would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

    Hi everyone,
I’d like to share a workaround that resolved this issue on my side.

I found that the problem was related to the new Power Automate designer. When I switched back to the Old Designer, the “Populate a Microsoft Word template” action worked normally, and the 403 / missing connection ACL error no longer appeared.

    Steps that worked for me:

    1. Open the flow

    2. Switch from New Designer to Old Designer

    3. Reopen the Populate a Microsoft Word template action

After switching to the old designer, the connection was recognized correctly and the flow ran successfully.

Hopefully this helps anyone facing the same issue.

Hi! I've recently been getting that same error with other connectors.

Re-authenticating the connections has worked for me, so I suggest trying that first.

Go to Connections, open the Word Online (Business) connection and select Switch account. No need to actually switch account, just sign in again with the current account.
