Components triggering when editing code

Anyone experiencing strange behaviour on components since yesterday? I have a lot of button components in a lot of apps with a custom OnSelect action (Event property type) and since yesterday every time I try to edit the custom OnSelect code in an app they just trigger it before I can type anything, just by clicking in the code area. It makes it impossible to develop the apps unless I code outside PowerApps and then quickly click and paste the code before the component executes the code. Funny that it seems to trigger most often when I click on the bracket ')'.

Anyone experience something similar?

I too noticed this same thing. All of a sudden I am trying to edit a custom OnSelect and my inbox got filled with endless amounts of notifications (it's an Email OnSelect of course). This only appears to be a problem with components OnSelect, as I tried copying my code into a random Icon/Button and it allows me to edit without triggering. I would just rather use my components than extra buttons/icons.

@kkliewer  I'll raise a ticket with Microsoft then, thanks for confirming is not just me

I have the same issue since I updated the app to the latest PowerApp version. Looking forward for a correction.

    Hi @FBMonteiro @kkliewer

Just had a chat with Microsoft support, maybe better said a contractor for them. We all confirmed the issue occurs from version 3.24031.25 onwards. We created a component on the call and it triggered from the formula bar. Reverting to version 3.24024.18 fixed the issue for me. Unfortunately they cannot do anything further as they do not support experimental issues however they said to raise the issue in the Ideas section of the community, have no clue what that is. I suspect that Microsoft will look into this as some point but the feel I got from the call is that experimental features are not priority for them, even though components have been around for ... ya know ... 4 years or more.

When you say experimental issues, what does that mean? Its the first time I hear about experimental issues. Components are not an experimental feature, we are using them for a long time already. Did they reference any Experimental or Preview feature that was triggering this behaviour? This clearly is a bug from the newer releases and they need to correct it.

I also opened a ticket, so let's see what they are replying.

I guess they became experimental since the "Enhanced component properties" which includes the Event behaviour is now under Experimental in Settings > Upcoming features. That's exactly what I told them too, components have been around for more than 4 years. I mean, I had to show them how to create and trigger a component so wouldn't hold my breath re support. I think this has to be acknowledged by someone from Microsoft themselves as support is in most cases outsourced to IT companies.

Is this issue only happening when that experimental feature "Enhanced component properties" is on? Or does it occur as well when its off? I do not know exactly what it does and I also have it on. However, I wonder what happens if I turn it off.

@FBMonteiro Unfortunately you have to have it on to have events triggered. Before this experimental feature we had the Behaviour option under Property type. It's now gone, replaced a while ago with the new experimental property type (Data, Function, Event, Action).

Please see this thread. Correction. No solution to the execution issue. Just one to the missing property types which is linked to this particular issue. They appeared at the same time.
