Convert excel into CSV

Hi

I am using Power Automate desktop to make flows that complete some of our operational tasks.

This is all fine untill I try to convert it into csv so I can load it into our ERP.

The problem is that whatever I do it will only use comma, and not semicolon as a separator. I have tried regional settings, search and replace and so on. Nothing works.

My workaround right now is to "Read from Excel worksheet" and then "Write to CSV file" instead of just saving as CSV.

This is insanely slow.

I hope that one of you have a solution for my problem 🙂

With kind regards

Karsten Moosgaard Pedersen

Hi @Moosgaard, have you also given a try at the Excel settings

How to change CSV delimiter in Excel (spreadsheetweb.com)

How to change Excel CSV delimiter to comma or semicolon (ablebits.com)

It is surprising that even Find & Replace is not working in this case.

If you have tried the Excel Find & Replace then try reading it as a normal text and using the Replace text action and writing it back.

    Hi VJR

I have tried changing this. Power Automate Desktop seems to have its own set of standards that i can't change.

The problem with the find & replace as text is that I still need to use the action "Read from Excel worksheet" which is insanely slow.

    Hi Bharti

Yes I have googled myself to the same solution. Problem is that it is a solution that works in cloud flows.

The firm where I work are currently working on governance for the Power Platform, and are therefore reluctant giving us RPA licenses. This means that I can't use cloud flows to do desktop jobs for now.

Hi @Moosgaard, the way of the text I was suggesting is to use the "Read text from file" to read the csv, do the Replace text and then write the replaced text back using "Write text to file". Hopefully the csv file is not too large.
