Downloading a SharePoint File to Desktop

Hello! I am trying to have a SharePoint file automatically download to a network drive on my PC.

If possible I'd like to avoid using OneDrive.

The first step is filtering to the most recently modified file, because every week there is a new file with a new date on the name. The second step is failing but is supposed to return the identifier from the most recently modified file.
Does anyone have advice on how I can accomplish this, or do I have to have it create a file in my OneDrive? If I had to put it on my OneDrive, how would I get the content from the most recently modified file in the SharePoint folder?

The files don't take up any space unless you explicitly open them.  After you are done you can disengage them again ("Free up space").  All you have locally is references.

I don't want to create a local sync file, that is what I am trying to avoid.

The SharePoint I am pulling from is owned by a different team. They update a file every Monday. I don't have any of their folder's synced to my OneDrive because of the space it would take up.

You are already using it - Sharepoint and OneDrive are the same thing when it comes to file shares.

If you create a local sync folder then OneDrive will automatically propagate the changes both down and up.
