Hi all,

I'm just starting to learn this Power Platform, start with PowerApps. So yesterday I just sign in and have a Trial environment for me to try. The question is actually what can I do with this Trial environment. I just created one simple apps but then after looking at Admin page on capacity,  it is now showing Red with over capacity.

So I browsing again and found a PowerApps Community Plan that I can join in, saying I can create an Individual environment for learning and testing, and did create, and now I have 2 environments. One with the tenant's name and one with my name.

Anyway the capacity is still showing red and I'm kinda lost what to do next.

The report is like this :

Can I have advice, if I want to learn about this PowerApps and PowerAutomate related to CDS.

Many thanks in advance,

TZ

    Hi @TZ

Welcome to the Power Platform! I wouldn't be too concerned about the capacity warning in the screenshot. When you provision a CDS database, it puts aside 1GB, which explains the figure. For practical purposes, you should find that you can continue using PowerApps without any problem, despite the warnings.

The community plan provides all the features of PowerApps, but the apps that we develop here are not licensed for live use. It isn't possible to share apps with other users, so the apps you build are for single use. The benefit of the community plan is that it is not time limited.

The difference with the trial environment is that it will expire after a set period of time. You can also share apps in a trial environment with other users, so you can use this as a platform to test an app with multiple users in the team.

    Hope that's of some help.

    Hi tim,

Thanks for clarifying. Yes it is mean for learning only, not to share or public use. My question now is how to proceed ? like how about this CDS thing, need some setup or some add-on ?

So with these 2 environemnt, as the trial has expiration time, I should work in the Community plan environment ?

One of the information I get, is actually from this :

    https://powerapps.microsoft.com/de-de/blog/communityplan/

It seems like it have all we needs to become Power Platform experts, but to start I'm a bit confuse now.

    Thanks,

    TZ

    Hi TZ,

In terms of the CDS, in the portal, there is an entities section.

    image.png

If this section appears when you switch to your community plan environment, it means that the CDS is set up and there is nothing more that you need to do.

If the entities section is not there, there should be a button that enables you to create a new CDS database. This is the only setup that you need to carry out. There are no additional add-ons that you need to obtain.

For learning purposes, I think it would make sense for you to work in the community plan because there will be no expiration date.

    Hope that helps.
