Hello everybody;

I want to create a canvas application for a client but I don't have much knowledge of power apps licensing that the client must have.

The database will be in dataverse and with the possibility of using premium connectors in power automation such as dataverse connectors (List the lines, when a line is added... and the others).

Now the customer has Microsoft 365 E5, will it do the job? If not What license must I have?

IF the app uses Dataverse as a data source then everyone running the app at the client will need either a Power Apps Premium license or a Power Apps per app license. A E5 is not enough for an app that uses premium connections.

For my case, does the customer need to change the E5 license or add Power Apps licenses?

So for my case:
The number of users is quite large, and the number of applications will be 1 application.
The use of premium connectors in power apps.
The customer has Microsoft 365 E5, should he stay on E5 and add Power Apps premium license or change it completely to E3 or other?

I checked the power apps pricing site and found that the power apps premium license costs $20 user/month.

So if the client has 1000 users then he has to pay 20*1000 $ each month, is that it?

Sorry if I'm asking trivial questions but I'm new to licensing

and if we want the given database to be on SQL with the use of premium connectors in Power Automate, it will be the same thing, should we use Power Apps Premium license?

Each Power Apps Premium license covers one user for any number of apps with Standard or Premium connections.

The Power apps Per app license covers one user for one app with Standard or Premium connections.

The E5 license convers one user for any number of apps with Standard connections. Your customer needs the E5 license for things like SharePoint, Teams, and Office so they would add the Power Apps license.

One last thing to know is that you don't actually assign the per app license to a user. You add it to a pool of licenses in an environment. A user will then be automatically assigned a per app license if they don't have a regular premium license when they run an app that uses a premium connection.

The E5 license is needed for whatever they are doing in Microsoft 365 and isn't needed for Power Apps if they have a premium or per app license. If its only one app then the per app license is much more cost effective.
