Currently, I am looking to set up an automated alert system that notifies me via email only when a new file is added to a particular subfolder within our large team folder named 'Documents'. The subfolder of interest is 'Documents>Example>Example'.

Could you please advise on whether it is possible to tailor the automation rules to such a specific requirement?

I have tried these steps, but they do not work as intended

  1. Go to the location of the subfolder > select the subfolder > click "…" in the menu > Automate > Rules > Create a rule;

  2. Select "A new file is added" option;

  3. Enter your email.

The issue is I am getting a alert for documents uploaded into any folder within the One Drive and not that specific sub folder. I have several sub folders within a folder. I thought by selecting the subfolder the rule would be assigned to only that subfolder, however, that is not the case.

    This is a very simple task from within Power Automate, rather than browsing via SharePoint.

    Go to https://make.powerautomate.us/ (or https://make.gov.powerautomate.us/ if you're on a Government tenant)
    Click My Flows
    Click New Flow
    Click Automated Cloud Flow
    Set your Trigger to When A File Is Created for OneDrive or OneDrive For Business, depending on your environment
    Click Create

    Set up your Flow like this:

    Save your Flow and then test it by adding a file to the chosen Directory

    For filename I used this expression: triggerOutputs()['headers']['x-ms-file-name']
    For Path I used this expression: triggerOutputs()['headers']['x-ms-file-path']

    @Tomac I have spent the last hour trying to work with PowerAutomate and I keep getting an "Run After" error, so I have restarted the whole process.
