Help on Data Card Update Properties to fix my Patch function

Hello I'm pretty new to Power Apps and I would like to ask why does the Update property of the votedPresident card need a .value

presidentDropdown.SelectedText.Value

while on the votedVicePresident card it seemingly doesn't need it.

vicePresidentDropdown.SelectedText

It seems that I'm getting a "Network error when using patch function" because of this difference.

Both have dropdowns connected to a SharePoint list but the only difference I know between the two is that the votedPresident card is auto generated when I created the form while I added the votedVicePresident card as a custom field.

It depends on the field type you are Patching to. If a Choice field you only need

vicePresidentDropdown.Selected

as you are send a Table (the Combo Box output) to a Table (the Choice field) - technically the Patch is actually

{Value: vicePresidentDropdown.Selected.Value}

a Text field is expecting Text, which is

vicePresidentDropdown.Selected.Value
