I'm losing my mind, PLEASE can someone help me.

What I want to do is not complicated, or should not be this complicated, but I have spent 2 days, used all forums, YouTube, CoPilot, ChatGPT.... EVERYTHING, and it is not working.

I have an "Incident response register" list which is fed by a Microsoft Form. In this list, there is a column (a custom ID column) named FXN-ID. All I want to do is whenever a incident is reported, that column in the new item must be populated by FXN-001, FXN-002 etc. From what i have gathered, Power Automated is the platform, but I have approached it in soooooo many way, I'm about to start swearing.

I think I need to use "Get Items", but I can not get this action to return an integer, so when I add 1 then it constantly tell me it can't add to a string. i have tried it with compose, variables, loops etc

This should REALLY not be this difficult. It is a standard function that most users of lists require

PLEASE CAN SOMEONE HELP
I have the same question (0)

    Hi!
I assume your challenge is you store incidents in a Sharepoint List, when a new incident is reported, ypu need to identify the last incident Id stored in the list, increment it by one in order to create a new item,
    Are these  assumptions correct?

So do you mean that you have a variable or compose that has the value "FXN-001" and you are trying to increment the number at the end? If you are trying to increment the whole value it obviously will not work since that is a string. You will need to separate it to last part being integer
    So here example:

Initialize integer that has value 1

When ever you want to increase it check if its under 10

If under 10 then its FXN-00X (X being the integer variable so in my example IntegerVar)

    And if over 10 FXN-0XX

    Under 10 would be FXN-00X

    Over 10 would be FXN-0XX
