Error with unattended flow in machine group "Cannot create new session to execute unattended run"

I have two machines setup to run Power Automate Desktop unattended flows in machine group. They've been working fine for a year. One of them just stopped working. When it tries to run on the one machine it errors out with the message "Cannot create new session to execute unattended run". That's the entire error message.

I have tried searching by the error message. The most common suggestion seems to be that there is someone else logged into the device, but I'm confident that is not the case. In fact, the confounding part is this same machine works if it is not in the Machine group. If I remove it from the machine group, then run unattended flows on it directly, it works great. It only won't work with the machine group.

I have tried all the basic troubleshooting steps. I have uninstalled and Reinstalled Power Automate Desktop on that device. I have removed and readded it to the machine group. I can't think of what else to test.

I have gone into the machine and exported the logs from power automate desktop, but nothing jumps out at me when I try to skim through them.

I have the same question (0)

I get this message too, however it is seemingly completely random and thankfully, less than 1% of the time.

The only thing I can think of that maybe you haven't tried, is prior to uninstalling PAD, remove it from your environment completely.  Then try, re-installing, re-connecting it to your environment, then re-add it to the machine group.

    Thanks for the reply!

I tried your suggestion, and just for good measure a bit more.

    • Deleted machine from Power Automate Machines
    • Deleted any connectors associated with that machine directly (not the machine group).
    • Uninstalled Power Automate Desktop from the device
    • Uninstalled the browser extensions (I doubt this mattered).
    • Rebooted
    • Reinstalled Power Automate Desktop, which happens to have a new version within the last day, so installed the new version.
    • Registered the machine
    • Reinstalled the extensions
    • Rebooted

Unfortunately it didn't fix it. It continues to give the same generic error, only when it's a part of the machine group. I even tried building a new machine group and added only that device, and that did work. I wonder if it has to do with two machines in the same group that are on different networks. Though that's been my configuration for the last year and it only stopped working a few weeks ago.
