Scheduled Reminder every 5 years

Hi, I have a requirement to build scheduled workflows that will run weekly and send out a reminder email in 5 years time. It is a new piece of work.

E.g. Employee passes the exam. They are required under law to take the exam again in 5 years from that date. Is it possible in Power Automate to schedule a workflow that far into the future?

Hi Nived, if we forget the running of it weekly and is it possible to have a 5 year reminder?

Employee A completes exam today, so 4 years 11 months from now, gets a reminder that it will expire soon and exam needs to be taken again

Employee B completes exam in February, so 4 years 11 months from that date get a reminder that it will soon and exam needs to be taken again.

Based on the fact the employees will be taking these exams at different times throughout the year, they want a scheduled workflow to run so that it looks at all the dates and then sends the email at the relevant time.

I have never been asked this type of request before, usually it is an annual expiry and I run the workflow on a weekly basis.

    Hi @karenlacey

Not sure how you will be recording the exam details, but let's say somehow you are able to record exam taken details of each employee in an excel file with details like : Emp ID, EMP Name, Emp Email id, date of exam.

Now create a scheduled flow which would be scheduled to run every day and it check whether the difference b/w date present in excel row with current date > 5 years, if yes , send a notification to the employee for exam expiry.

This approach has to be taken in flow design 🙂

    Thanks & Regards,

I will be recording just the date the exam was taken. So will be using that field to use in a scheduled workflow. % years = 1825 days. Does the scheduled workflow allow for that many days in the future? I read an article where it stated that the limit was 2 years. It was an article from 2019 though.
