PAD crashes another application

Hello,

Problem Overview

I'm struggling with the crash issue of PAD and another application.
I don't run the flow, but I just opened the flow designer window, and it crashed another app.

I need your help. Thank you.

Behaviors

I observe the following behaviors:

  • When I run each application independently, they work normally.
  • When I open the PAD with a welcome page, both apps work normally.
  • When I open the PAD with the flow designer window, PAD crashes another app.
  • This issue has started occurring about October (sorry, I don't remember the correct date)
  • Until then, they both had worked normally even if I ran both at the same time

What I did

I debugged the issue but couldn't get the solution. So I need help! This may be a bit technical discussion.

I configured it to open WinDbg at the app crash and also checked the EventViewer.

The following information is retrieved from the debugging tools:

  • c0000005 exception occurred in KERNELBASE.dll (by EventViewer)
  • OraOCIEI12 library and PBVM120 library are related (by WinDbg memory dump)

Another app uses Oracle Client 12.1, but I don't understand why it's related to PAD because I don't use it in PAD flow.

I stacked here and appreciate it if you give me the instructions to resolve this issue. I can give you more details if you need them.

Note

  • Environment: Windows10 Pro x64, RAM 8GB

I've had cases of PAD itself crashing during flow runtime when working with certain applications. In some cases that was resolved by upgrading to a later OS (e.g. Windows Server 2016 to 2019). In some cases, an update to PAD would fix it. But your case is different. The only thing I can suggest is trying to check for available updates to PAD and updating, if there are any, hoping that could improve performance.

Other than that, it seems like you should report this to MS support. They might come up with some further debugging, or suggest a solution. These forums here are not meant for official MS support, and are just community forums, so you won't get that here, unless someone else in the community has encountered a similar issue already and can share their experience.

    Hi, @Agnius
Thank you for your reply. I understand the possible way is to upgrade OS or PAD.
I'll try to contact with MS support team. Again, thank you for the reply!
