Automatically scrape price from a website?

Hello, I am looking for the possibility of running automation that will go from one URL to another and grab the price field for each into a spreadsheet.

I know how to write all the automation code, my question is...

Is there any way I can create a rule for whatever website it goes to, to grab whatever numbers are attached to a dollar sign?

(by grab I mean put the numerics into a variable)

I do not want to have to manually define each UI element for each different website.

I am not grabbing the price from the same website.

Thanks for any help!

    Hello @QuestC !

I consider two ways to perform the necessary steps.

The first one depends on the structure of the elements that contain prices (start with $ symbol) in the page. As long as you are able to define a selector for the elements containing these values, you could also use a regular expression inside the 'Extract data from web' action (Advanced link).

If this cannot provide the required functionality, then you could also try to save the page as text and perform all necessary steps with Text module of Power Automate Desktop. For saving the page, you could use the shortcut 'Ctrl+S' with the 'Send Keys' action.

You may struggle with the websites returning the page. I tried using Excel (data, get data, from web) with a list of known URLs for product pages, but got some intermittent returns from the target web server. Sometimes it would serve up the page and sometimes not.

I'm in the process of learning to do this with PA, but my intent is not to start with the URL, but rather to get PA to go to the search bar, search for the item, and select the first search result.
