Export or make a copy of AI model

Hi AI Builder experts,

I can share but can I export my AI model or make a copy of my AI model? This is because I would like to remove some fields in the AI model to see if the performance can be improved.

For example in Power Automate Flow, I can easily make a copy of any flow for modifications while maintaining the original flow.

It looks like that you want to compare the performance between two model versions.

At the moment, it is not possible to "save as" or predict using a non-published version excepted with the quick test button.

We are working at the moment to improve model lifecycle capabilities.

In particular, supporting more model versions, being able to predict on a non published version, or rollback to a previews version (so you can publish a new version, check the performance and rollback if not satisfactory)

This is planned for Q1 next year.

In the meantime, the only option is unfortunately to rebuild a new model.

Good morning, is it possible to copy paste a model from an environment to another though? (as per August 2022)

    Hi @LGERMES ,

It's possible to copy a model through solutions: you will be able to predict using the copied model in the target environment, but you won't be able to move training set along with the model. More details: Distribute your model - AI Builder | Microsoft Docs

I do not see a copy option after selecting my environment.  All I'm trying to do is copy an AI model

    Hi @Etignor1 ,

There's no full copy option right now. You can simulate a copy for prediction needs by exporting a model and importing it through a solution but training data won't copied along with the model (Distribute your model - AI Builder | Microsoft Docs).

We are thinking of ways to copy model with training data, but we don't have any date for it yet.

    Thanks.

    Hi Antrod,

By chance had there been any further development on being able to copy a model with training data?

As apart of a company restructure I am migrating a solution from one tenancy to another, the import / export has worked but I am not able to edit the AI model which from the research I have done so far seems to be on purpose.

I did find one article suggesting that ?&aiBuilder.showCloneModel=true could be added to the imported AI model URL to enable it to use the clone function, however the clone function keeps throwing an "ai model cloning Couldn't create draft. Try again later." error.

Are there any other ways around this to be able to edit the AI model in the environment it has been imported into?

    Many thanks

The only option at the moment is to perform and environment copy from the Power Platform Administration Center

    Hello,

Any update on being able to clone an AI Model with the training data?

When we use the URL method - aiBuilder.showCloneModel=true, to make the clone button to appear, we receive the below error.

Necessary data are missingCreating a new version or publishing this version (if not already published) is not possible. Some essential data required for editing this version has been deleted from the environment. If the model has already been published, it can still be used.

Anyway to resolve this error? Could we modify any Dataverse tables to fix this?

the URL method - aiBuilder.showCloneModel is for internal testing and isn't supported and not recommended.

(this may end up breaking original model when deleting a copy instance)
