Document approval that works for reviewer and approver

Hello all,

I am preparing a document apporval flow using sharepoint and power automate, in which the review date will be checked and if it is less than the current date then an email will be send to reviewer and if he does not react in some day/week then an email will be sent to the approver, else the process will be delayed till the review date is less than current date.

If the reviewer approve or reject then the deatils should be updated in the columns of sharepoint.

Please help me out if someone has already worked on it or has some idea!!

Thank you in anticipation.

I think the only part you have not figured out with your process is for sending a reminder to the approver if they have not approved within a period of time. If that is what you need, set a variable in your flow of Boolean with the default value of false. Then add a parallel branch. On one side will be the approval task (I am using an e-mail with options) and on the other side will be a Do until action. You would set it up as:

We're still testing this flow so the delay is only five minutes, but you can change the delay to whatever you need (as long as it does not exceed 30 days).

On the right side of the flow, the Notification to me action is triggered if the approval times out and sends me a notification of such.

Note, if the person responds to the approval, you may see the workflow showing as running still. This is caused by the delay in the Do until action and is normal. The workflow will complete as soon as the do until does its next check and meets the condition set.

    Hi David,

    Thank you for your suggestion,
I tested the scenario it worked fine but before this flow, as I am extracting "Review date" ( a column in the sharepoint), then it is coming as "null" in get file properties. and that could not be compared further with the date to check if the review date is less than today's date or not.

The error is as follows :

"The execution of template action 'Apply_to_each_2' failed: the result of the evaluation of 'foreach' expression '@items('Apply_to_each_5')?['Reviewdate']' is of type 'Null'. The result must be a valid array."

Could you please suggest me some way to tackle this error.

    Thank you
