Hi all,
I built a Power Automate flow that reads incoming freight quote request emails, extracts shipment details using AI Builder, and creates a pre-formatted draft to forward to an internal liaison. The flow works end to end — AI extraction, draft creation, everything is functioning.
The missing piece is the trigger. What I'm specifically trying to achieve is an add-in button that appears inside Outlook while reading an email — so I can click it on any quote request email and the flow fires on that specific message automatically, no copy-pasting required.
My understanding is this is done through the "For a selected email (V2)" trigger in Power Automate, which installs a button into the Outlook toolbar via the Power Automate add-in.
Here's what I've tried:
- Searched for "For a selected email (V2)" in Power Automate trigger list — doesn't appear under Office 365 Outlook in the new designer
- Searched for Power Automate in the Outlook add-in store (both New Outlook and Classic) — doesn't appear
- Checked the three dots menu inside emails in Outlook web and Classic — no "Automate" option
- Contacted IT — confirmed no restrictions, web add-ins are supported, but the feature isn't available in New Outlook yet due to COM add-in limitations
License: Power Automate Premium + Power Automate for Office 365
Is the Power Automate Outlook add-in button still available in Classic Outlook desktop? If so, how do I install it? And is there any workaround to get a similar one-click trigger working in New Outlook?
Thanks
