How to extract text from PDF and replace the file name as extracted?

Hi,

How i can automate the tasks by open the PDF file, read the text from a fixed location and rename the PDF file name?

you have two questions in your last post.

The first about reading the text:
You could use the AI Builder to extract the text from the PDF.
Like here: Extract text from images or PDF documents using AI Builder Text Recognition | Microsoft Power Automate

The second one about changing the file name:
There are a lot of ways to do it. You could create a new file based on the old pdf content or you could simply use a http request to change the pdfs name if its in the SharePoint. It really depends on where your file is located? Do you want to upload it when starting the flow?

Hi @powercorner ,
I am not sure if the way i ask is correct cause i am quite new to this PAD.
All my files are located in onedrive.
Here are my problems:
Everyday i need to open the PDF files and see what is the document number and rename the PDF file name based on the document number/invoice number stated inside the PDF doc. Any idea/solutions how i can solve this boring tasks? Good thing is, the document number always fixed at top right corner.

Hello @Wendy_2021 ,

I am confused now cause you mentioned PAD (which is Power Automate Desktop - the RPA solution of MS).
Your task is solvable with a usual Power Automate Flow.

I assume the document number is on the same position in every pdf document?
You can use the AI Builder and teach the model to extract exactly the information you need.

Have you already started to create your flow? If yes you could show me some screenshots so I can support you better.

@powercorner Appreciate your response to this question, however. i have the same task, the pdfs are stored in OneDrive, i know i can use power automate flows to extract texts (order_number) from the pdf files, my problem is what flows/triggers will i use to generate a new pdf based on the uploaded pdf and save the new pdf with the "order_number" as file name. I would appreciate your response. Thanks
