Openning file in Desktop application

Hi,

 

I have a Powerapp customized form with a text-rich editor. Users add an Excel file link there. Recently I noticed they cannot open some Excel files because they are .xslm and Excel online doesn't support it. Would someone advise me on how to open the file in the desktop application? I prefer to have a button next to a text-rich editor for that purpose.

    Hi @Setayesh2

     

    This is not easily possible due to the way that Power Apps are consumed by users.

     

    The App runs in a webpage (an iFrame), and can be run on any kind of device - this means that it can be run on a mobile as well, where the desktop application wouldn't exist and uses a different URI.

     

    You can try using the MSOffice URI schemes as follows, but it's not guaranteed to work:

    "ms-excel:ofv|u|<https://yourlinkdetailsgohere/yourfilename.xls>"
