Custom Connector to internal API / Data Gateway

The company I work for has a API that is used for all our Meeting Rooms (1000's) and I am trying to correct to the API.  I have been testing by creating a "Custom Connector", but upon trying to test the "Custom Connector", it asks for a "Gateway", but its blank.  

 

It does give the the option to install an "On-Prem Data Gateway", but this would install on my laptop, which I guess isnt right.  Whats the best was to create a "Custom Connector" in this continuous learning process.

    I don't have any experience with an internal API, but any time I use an API in PowerApps I use Power Automate to create a flow that fires an HTTP request and response like this:
