Renaming or deleting the Title field in power apps

Hello everyone,

There is a field on my shrepoint list titled "Title" which I can not delete so renamed to "serial number" however when I try to edit the fields on power apps, the field is still named "Title".

I have attempted to rename it by unlocking the card >  Advanced > Display name.

The formula for the display name is attached.

I have attempted to change the "Title" to "serial number" but I just get an error.

I have also attempted to change the "required field to false which does not result in errors however when I attempt to fill out a new entry in my sharepoint,I receive an error message saying "Title" must be filled.

I would love to just completely get rid of this column but hiding it on sharepoint does nothing. Does anyone know what I can do?

Thank you,

Ewan

The column behavior you are seeing is normal, and for those reasons, a lot of users avoid using the Title column. To do this, you first need to go to the SharePoint List settings and make the Title column "Not Required". Then, feel free to ignore it going forward. You can't delete it (it is a special SharePoint column), but you can ignore it.

    Hope that helps,

@BCLS776 But you have to use the Title Column. There isn't an option in SharePoint to disable it?

You are correct that you can't disable or delete the Title column in a SharePoint List (slightly different than a Document Library), but there is no requirement to use the Title column. In fact, recently Microsoft has removed the "required" default for the Title column so you can ignore or hide the column without any further effect on Power Apps you build using it.

When you are at your List, click on the gear icon at the top right corner and select 'List Settings'. You'll be able to mark/unmark the required status for columns there.

If I am understanding correctly, you'd like to change the name of the title column in the power app?  If so, instead of clicking on the whole title data card, click the text name so you have it selected, then under Advanced on the right, call it whatever you want as long as you keep it between the quotes ex. "Something Else".

    Hope I understood you correctly.
