@LisaN It's hard to troubleshoot without seeing your full flow. Are you able to upload a screenshot of your entire flow?

For more flow troubleshooting tips—check out this YT Tutorial: 5 Power Automate Troubleshooting FAQs and Helpful Tips for Creating Better Flows

    In this tutorial I cover:

✅ How to troubleshoot a false Condition action result

✅ How to get dynamic content when it isn’t selectable from the list of dynamic content

✅ How to troubleshoot an Apply to Each action that isn’t looping through

I appreciate whatever help you can give.  My understanding is that when I created the Get Items step, it should have added a box above it , underneath For Each, essentially outlined the action....but I'm new to Automate.

@LisaN Sorry it's hard to tell with the New Designer what you are looping through. Can you switch to the Classic designer by clicking the toggle in the top right of the screen and uploading a screenshot of the flow in the Classic Designer?

    creativeopinion_0-1705070775430.png

There are also still bugs with the new designer. There are especially issues when it comes to using it with the When a new response is submitted trigger. I would recommend working in the Classic Designer.

Also, it's not good practice to run a Get Items action inside an Apply to Each loop. You want to pull that action outside of the Apply to Each loop and use a Filter Array action instead. To learn more about how to use the Filter Array action, please refer to this recent YT Tutorial I uploaded.

@LisaN Thanks! Once you've added the information from the Form submission into your Excel table you are using the List Rows present in a table action—are you listing rows from the same table you've just added to?

  • LisaN Profile Picture

Yes.  The same table.  Is that wrong?

@LisaN Not necessarily. Just trying to understand your logic. Can you explain the logic of your flow? After someone fills out a form, you are adding a row to the table—and also updating one or more rows in the same table?

After adding a row into Excel, I want it to also add a row into Sharepoint (for collegues at work to access).

In the tutorial I did, it said to set it up this way.  I am not altogether sure why.

@LisaN If the logic in your flow is to add a row to an Excel table and an Item to a SP list after your form has been submitted, your flow should look something like this.

    creativeopinion_0-1705073876072.png

Keep in mind, you may require additional actions based on the type of questions you have in your form. If you have a multi-choice response—you'll need to parse the response first. I cover that in this section of the tutorial.

I would recommend creating a brand new flow with a manual trigger while you are building and testing your flow. This way you can trigger your flow manually without. needing to leave Power Automate and fill out a form. I cover how to do this in this section of the tutorial.

    Hope this helps!
