Excel Manipulation using SQL Connection in PAD - Deleting data in a linked table is not supported by this ISAM

Hello everyone,

I am using Power Automate Desktop and want to delete certain rows of data based on the value. I am able to Select the values using SQL Query. But I am unable to run Update or Delete queries.

I tried various scenarios but the outcome is an error: Deleting data in a linked table is not supported by this ISAM

1. The Excel File has data in a Excel Table (Original FiIe)

2. The Data was copied into a New Excel File using Excel Actions (Read from Worksheet & Write to Excel Worksheet)

3. The Data was copied into a New Excel File Excel using SQL and Excel Actions (Read from Worksheet using SQL Query & Write to Excel Worksheet the Query Result)

4. Created a plain and simple Excel File Manually (without any Excel Table formatting)

I opened the file and found no column which is linked to any other file. Can anyone please help why is Data Manipulation like Update or Delete not working using SQL Connection in a Excel File and the solution for it?

You cannot run DELETE queries on Excel files as databases. It's simply not supported. If you need to delete values, use the native Excel actions in PAD, or scripting, such as PowerShell or VBscript.
