When trying to create an app but selecting
+New App
Start with Data
The page displays the option for SharePoint Excel and SQL, but times out / displays an error around the SharePoint component
This is with an unlicensed user, in the default environment. (I would expect it to work as SharePoint isn't a premium connector?)
Any ideas?

Do you want this 3 screen app that will be created using the way you do it? Or do you want to build it from scratch? If second option is the one you wanna go, you can simply create a app from blank and then connect whatever datasource you want to use.
