Update Planner Tasks from Excel

Hi,

I'm trying to create a flow to update planner task from Excel. I have an action to list rows from table then an action to Update Planner Task within an Apply to action. The problem is the "Update Planner Task" is looking for Task ID's as opposed to task name. Hoping someone can suggest some way to retrieve task IDs, match these to Task name then update the corresponding task?

Thanks

    Hi @pmc101 ,

The recommendation here is to add a field to the table to store the task id. Even if the task id can be used to filter the task id, some problems will occur. Because we cannot guarantee that each task name is unique, if there are two duplicate task names, it will cause some errors.

    Best Regards,

    Hi v-bacoa,

Thanks for your response. I had hoped there was a more dynamic way to achieve this although I appreciate the challenge that duplicate task names would create so users would need police this.

For now, as per your suggestion I added a TaskID field to the plan update worksheet. I exported the plan to Excel from Planner and used vlookup to add the Task IDs to the spreadsheet then the flow worked fine.

    Thanks again.

Hi All, Have a similar project on my end. There are 4 flags in the planner which are used to update the cards on the planner. Flags are ( priority, status, assigned to, due date) . Every time the planner cards are updated with the flags the exported excel sheet should reflect that change,

Concern 1. I can not find the "iterative bucket" " iterative task" buttons in the powerautomate. Instead I am using Apply to each, are they the same functionalities.

I repeated the youtube video to clarify on what to use in the conditional branches. I am putting the fields in red border which needs to be confirmed. Something is not working , as  I am not able to see the excel row updated
