D365 - Model driven app showing unselected system dashboards after deployment

Hello Guys

I am facing a strange issue after deploying a MDA with dashboards.

1. Created 3 custom dashboards in my model driven app and added it to a patch in my DEV environment.

2. Deployed this patch into QA environment and published all customisations

3. Now MDA in QA environment is showing 4 dashboards instead of 3 dashboards. The additional dashboard is the OOTB "Sales Dashboard".

4. Patch in the dev instance has MDA with 3 dashboards, but after deployment the patch in QA has MDA with 4 dashboards.

Could you advise what would be the reason behind this system dashboard showing up in QA please?

Note: After deployment I have cleared cache and also tried in different browser.

Thanks

Arjun

@cchannon  Yes 1st patch had this customization as we didn't had custom dashboards at that point so just added a system dashboard (Sales dashboard), however this is a managed solution and deploying further changes/patches should override existing changes, shouldn't it? If so, why would Sales Dashboard still be there in MDA?

Then it seems one of those other patch layers contains this customization and you probably won't figure out which without Upgrading to flatten the patches.

@cchannon  Thanks for the reply, sorry I didn't mention it. It is managed solution that is deployed from Dev to QA.

Below is the screenshot of solution layer of the MDA in QA and there is no unmanaged solution.

Re: D365 - Model driven app showing unselected system dashboards after deployment

Answer depends on the nature of the solution you are migrating.

If the solution you are pushing is unmanaged, then the reason for this behavior is that unmanaged solution imports are NEVER subtractive. That OOB Dashboard was in the app (or was added to the app) at some point in the past and no matter how many times you import an unmanaged solution without it, that dashboard will never go away. You need to remove it in QA to make it go away.

If the solution is managed, then the reason is that in QA your model driven app contains an unmanaged customization. That unmanaged customization includes the addition of that dashboard. From the make.powerapps interface, go to your default solution in QA and find the model driven app, then select it and click "See Solution Layers" From here you should see the managed layer you imported and an unmanaged layer on top of it. Delete the unmanaged layer to get rid of the unmanaged customization and remove this dashboard from your app. Alternatively, during import if you use the Classic UI, you can select "Upgrade" and "Overwrite Customizations" to eliminate ALL unmanaged customizations to ALL managed components at once.
