WinAutomation licensing

I had a WinAutomation lifetime license bought from Softomotive back in 2018 and it was installed on PC for a customer, but now customer want to transfer the license to a new machine. However if we try to transfer the license, its saying that the Activation URL is not reachable or something like this. Its happening for WinAutomation v.8. All WinAutomation and Softomotive URLs are not reachable, and I tried to contact Microsoft support multiple times, but the service was terrible and even with 3 tickets nobody couldn't help me. Deadlines of customer are pushing us, but with the zero service provided by Microsoft, I'm not sure what to do. Any ideas how to transfer a license?

I have the same question (0)

    Hi @Zhorzh_Spasov ,

    The previous product and previous company no longer exist and is the root cause.  My recommendation is to purchase the required licensing for Power Automate as needed.

    Hi @Zhorzh_Spasov ,

    Transferring a WinAutomation lifetime license from Softomotive (which was acquired by Microsoft) can be challenging due to the unavailability of activation URLs and the limitations caused by the transition.

    Consider purchasing a new license for Power Automate (which includes Win Automation features).

    Its impossible to explain to the customer that they paid a lifetime license and had contract for that and now their license is not available.. they can sue us for that.

    @Zhorzh_Spasov

    I acknowledge your concerns. However, the community here is available to assist with technical issues. Your concern seems to be more of a legal nature, so I suggest reaching out to Microsoft or the relevant Single Point of Contact (SPOC) from the previous WinAutomation team regarding this matter.

    I tried to reach the support, but I was suprised of the services of the support. They are saying they will assign the ticket to the teams and nothing happens 3 tickets in a row.

    Hi @Zhorzh_Spasov ,

    I acknowledge your concern.  That said, keep in mind two important things:  1) the product you are referring to no longer exists; meaning you can't use it and the lifetime license is no longer valid.  2)  the company was acquired by Microsoft and no longer exists.

    While it's a poor analogy, it is equivalent to me reaching out to Alphabet about my photos in Google Plus, the product and entity no longer exist, so those help desk tickets go into the "2018 acquisition can't answer" bucket.

    Here's what I would do:  turn this conversation into a positive one for your client.  Give them the facts, they will appreciate you stepping up and informing them, absolutely 100%, explain why "lifetime" licenses really don't exist and use this as a lesson learned and move on with Power Automate.

    Please mark this answer as a solution to help others find it too.  If you need additional help, feel free to msg me.
