Backuping the OneNote file

Hello all,

I made flow for backuping file on OneDrive for bussiness - it is an OneNote file. Flow is named something like "Copy a file with using a file path".

It is working well, I copy file named for example SOMETHING  to the same folder just with name SOMETHING_backup.

And I set rule to OVERWRITE.

Now I need to change last rule to NOT OVERWRITE. I want to save backup file every week but keep all versions. So I want folder with files named SOMETHING_backup1, SOMETHING_backup2, SOMETHING_backup3... etc.

Can you please help me with that?

Thank you,

Dominik

    Hi @nick4924

You can refer to the below steps:

    er4.PNG

Here I am appending the date to the filename so that I can identify by the date of the backup. Expression:

    formatDateTime(utcNow(),'dd-MM-yyyy')

    Hope this Helps!

    Hi @nick4924,

You could consider the advice provided by @yashag2255, add the date after the file name instead of a number.

And if you want to create a copied backup file, you could create a flow separately with the Recurrence trigger (or When a file is modified in OneDrive for business). Then get the Something_back file content and metadata, then according create a file in the new folder named by file name.

    For example:

    Hi @nick4924,

The file path is wrong, it should have an extension, you can click the file clicker to pick the file.

I just chose it from OneDrive and there is no way how to add file extension.

For file Neecopedia which is OneNote file I can not add anything, it will rewrite back to current name.

    Hi @nick4924

I thought you were referring to a specific type of file and you could add the extension manually then. Please see the flow below and replicate:rr3e.PNG

    Expression:

    formatDateTime(utcNow(),'dd-MM-yyyy')

Remember not to use '/' in the date or else it will consider it as a path.

    Hope this Helps!

    Hey @nick4924

In the error, it is stating that you are trying to get the content of the folder and not a file. Can you select the file manually by pressing the folder icon and navigating to the file and then actually selecting it?

You might want to try with a few more files too.

I tested the same thing in my environment and it works as expected.

    Hope this Helps!

    Hi @yashag2255 ,

I can see that there is written folder, but it is the last position of file path where I can go. I selected it manually by pressing the folder icon, you can see it on screenshot which I sent.

If you will simulate the same situation in your enviroment (backup of notebook from OneNote) I think you will need error as well.

    Thank you,

    Dominik

    Hey @nick4924

Does your file exists on OneDrive? If you see the screenshot I provided, you will see that I am selecting the file 'ffe.PNG' this file is already there on the root folder in my OneDrive. That way, you need to first find the original file for which you want to create the backup. Then get its content and then create the new file.

    Hope this Helps!
