Sharepoint "When an item is modified" sees new items as "Modified"

Hi all,

I've build a flow that tracks work requests.  I want to notify the team if anyone changes a column.  I am happy we now have the opportunity to track modifications ONLY (not just "Created or Modified).  Unfortunately it sees brand new items as having a modified field for some reason, so the flow is triggered.

The columns "Modified" and "Editor" are both returning TRUE, even though this is a brand new list item.  Any ideas why?

tx,

@dhalpin ever since SharePoint was first released in 2001 a new item will always be created with a modified date as well as a created date. So you need to use a different non-system column to check whether an item has changed.

Thanks for the prompt reply Rob!

Ok, so I can set my flow to ignore the default "Modified" and "Editor" columns, but how do I capture future edits?  Will the Editor's name not be auto-captured to the "Editor" column (and therefore ignored by my flow)?

You can use trigger conditions so that the flow only fires if 1 or more specific conditions are (or are not) met. That sounds your best bet and there are various YouTube videos about this which should help.
