Studio not working on Windows 10 Insider 14905

Powerapps studio for Windows 10 won't start on insider build 14905.

Anyone found a work around on this yet?

Seems that those of us that use insider builds have to deal with this issue every single update.  Hard to believe that this client application is sooooo tied to a certain build of the OS.  Who does that!?

And of course the web based version of Studio is a joke and for all purposes just not usable.  Kind of scary, with Microsoft putting so much weight on Powerapps as part of their business platform stack.

As a Microsoft partner who is often updating his Power App in order to demonstrate to customers and potential customers - this is indeed most frustrating.

It's a preview, we get it, but why not let us in on why this is happening and perhaps provide a workaround? I don't mind if it's a little technical and tricky to implement... But to wait for an app update every time there's a new release of Windows Insider build is a little nuts.

You'll tell me again this is all preview and insider builds and that I shouldn't be using it in production or relying upon it - and that's fine, but in order to show innovation and forward thinking these are all important aspects of my daily workstation.

Hi dwm, I beg to disagree on the web based version of studio.  I use it with Chrome and find it works quite well for a preview version.

I agree however that it is frustrating for the desktop studio to not work with Windows upgrades, that is why I am not using it anymore.  It was also a pain to use the Windows Store to upgrade the PA Studio, the store seems to crash/get stuck often and PowerApps is the only reason I use it at all.

@dwm9100b & @Anonymous - I understand your frusturation, but you have to understand the risk which comes when you are using the Insider preview of Windows. Please have a look at the known issues list on the release notes for the build here: https://blogs.windows.com/windowsexperience/2016/08/17/announcing-windows-10-insider-preview-build-14905-for-pc-mobile/. It is listing serval apps which may not work, and PowerApps being a modern app also gets affected by such bugs.

We will work with Windows team to ensure that the current issue gets fixed but with the rapid pace of change and innovation, such instances may occur again. Mostly these issues are bugs in the Windows platform and there are no user workarounds available.

We do indeed understand the risks of running preview stuff, but if we weren't running preview stuff, we wouldn't be trying out this cool new service called PowerApps 😉

    Hi Saraf,

It's been more than 2 weeks and the last Windows 10 update (14915) update didn't fix the issue either.

Do you have any updates or ETA on when this is going to be fixed?

    Cheers,

    Anton

Version 2.0.500 is now available in the Store and contains a work-around for the Windows Insider bug. You may notice the window title being the wrong color, this is a side-effect of the work-around.
