Excel/VBA Macro conversion to Power Automate

Hello,

Not sure where to ask this question or if this is even the right outlet, but my company uses a lot of older Excel/VBA macros that range from simple recorded macros to place filters on massive reports we look at daily to performing very large and time consuming actions within applications that we use to perform our work. So I have a couple of questions.

Is Power Automate capable of replacing the actions of Excel/VBA macros? and is there a way for the coding already done within the Excel/VBA macro to be essentially converted/transplanted into Power Automate as a flow so there is no re-creation of the wheel happening anywhere?

Trying to see if there is a painless option to accomplish what we need without having to go back through and re-create everything in Power Automate if the tool is capable.

    Hi @gyzmology ,

I'll share my input and hope it is helpful.  First and foremost, I'm not a paid consultant and don't provide services, not that there is anything wrong with that, but here's my free advice.  Please mark as a solution if this was helpful!

That said, from my experience, it is not a 1 for 1, meaning your older VBA may not move over to Power Automate, Power Automate Desktop, and/or OfficeScripts without some effort.  The level of effort depends on what you have to start with.  From my perspective, you are going to need to rebuild your old VBA into one or more of the three options: 1) Power Automate, 2) Power Automate Desktop, and 3) OfficeScripts.  I'm also not aware of a solution that will automatically take your VBA code and build it for you into one of the three automation options.  Hope that helps!  Always glad to help! Tom
