Sorting Files Into Folders Matching File Types

Howdy:

I have yet to make this work on Automator on macOS, so let's see if I can do this on Windows.

I want to make some folders in OneDrive (or anywhere honestly, but I like to keep my stuff accessible in the cloud) that will look for files of a certain file type (so .pdf, .mp3, .exe, etc.) and then move those files into folder I just created.

So basically,

IF file type = .mp3 THEN MOVE .mp3 TO folder MP3s.

Is this possible? I'll keep messing around PowerAutomate, but I thought someone may have thought of this already and has a solution.

    Hi there,

    Yep, totally possible.

Get Files (all files, I suppose, from where ever you're wanting to move them from), get the extension (you can use Compose and then use the expression split() on "." and get the last item using last()), then you can use "Move File" and point it at the destination folder of /(TheOutputFromTheLastActionHere).

I think that would do it ....

Where are you wanting to move the files from? Is it a one time thing, or is it just organization for when you drop stuff off?

For example, I have a PNGs folder, and I want any file that is a PNG to automatically go into that folder. Same with any other file extension I want to organize. The idea is to make my folder structure as clean as possible.
