Can I build a flow with ONLY Start an Approval WITHOUT adding Wait for an approval?

I have an entire flow built using Start an Approval with 3 custom buttons.  Everything is working PERFECTLY so  know I "can" do it this way.  I have no errors or problems.  But I recently noticed that I used Start an Approval instead of Start and Wait for an Approval.  I did NOT add Wait for an Approval anywhere in my entire flow.  But I've read that if you use Start an Approval you are supposed to also add Wait for an Approval.

Since it's working perfectly, I'm wondering whether I should just leave it alone, or if I should:

1) try to change the Start and Approval to a Start and Wait for an Approval action

2) keep Start an Approval but add Wait for an Approval somewhere

Both option 1) & 2) would require me to go into every single action and repoint everything to the outcomes for the new Approval action.  I have many, many emails and actions that I would have to manually re-reference.  So, I'd rather just leave it as it is since it's working fine, but I don't know if there is a reason I will have a problem later.  Thanks.

Start an Approval is an older deprecated version of the Start and Wait for Approval.  It will continue to work for a while, but at some point you will need to change it out for Start and Wait for Approval when the Start an Approval is removed from service.   The commentary on Wait for an Approval actually refers to "Create an Approval", not Start an Approval.  They are completely different actions.  You should do #1.  #2 won't work.

Thank you!  I shall persevere and redo all my Flows now with Start and Wait for an Approval, as I don't want to get caught and have everything stop working at some point where I don't have time to fix it before users notice.  (Ugh) I wish it would automatically update these references but sadly it does not.

I just took a peek and I do see now that it is Create an Approval that is available now and that is referenced to go along with Wait for an Approval.  I have to customize everything without templates because we do NOT have access to any Outlook connectors so I have to build my flows from scratch with the generic email connector.  For this reason, I often make copies of existing flows and delete the logic I don't need.  That is how I ended up with a deprecated connector in a new flow. 🙂
